You ever have a bad week, just like a week that just seemingly nothing went your way, or even just a really bad day. Right? You've heard the saying, "when it rains, it pours." I feel like there's seasons of that. And the goal of today is to help you look at this week as a new week. I was thinking about it. When you get to December 31st, I think there's excitement because, you know, January 1st hits. It's a new year. It's new resolutions, and there's this sense of newness. And in that sense of newness, there's a, like a hope, or a joy even that gives you this inspiration for this new year to come.
Dr. Barrett:But what if you were to frame that into every day? I was meditating on scripture where it talks about new mercies, mercies being new every day. Every morning you wake up, there's new mercy, a measure of grace for the day. But how do we do it? How do we take our yesterday and leave it behind?
Dr. Barrett:Or our last week could have been a hell week and leave it behind, and look at our new week and our new day as something that's full of hope and inspiration. Well, one, I think it's a mindset. I think you have to just choose to look at the day as a new day. Regardless of what happened yesterday, today is a new day. And meditate on His word that talks about mercies being new every morning.
Dr. Barrett:I think the second piece to it is when you rise in the morning, are you preparing your mind and your spirit and your soul for what's to come? Are you just waking up and frantic because you hit the snooze three times and you're behind the clock and you're rushing to get out of the house. I guarantee if that's the state of your nervous system and the state of your spirit, it's probably gonna be a rocky start to the day. So, do we do? What do we do with this, right?
Dr. Barrett:Well, I think it's practicing a discipline of rising early, choosing: choosing, to make that day a new day, and giving yourself a sense of hope for the day. What I like to do is look at the day and say, "Hey, if these three things were to be accomplished today, it would be an incredible day." What am I hopeful for? What am I dreaming about for that day? Alright?
Dr. Barrett:And it may be personal, it may be business, it may be relational. Whatever your desires are, write them out in the morning. Put them before the Lord, and just think on those things throughout the day. Maybe it's something for the week. Maybe you're you have something that you're dreaming for in the week, or you're hopeful about for the week.
Dr. Barrett:Write them out. Look at them. Look at them every single day. Choose today as being a new day with new mercies and new grace, but also choose to put your vision and your dreams on paper and reflect on all the good things that are before you. What is something you're hopeful for?
Dr. Barrett:Write it out, meditate on it, process it, and I guarantee you're gonna have a better day.
