This week's Manna Monday is hope for what's coming. Hope for what's coming. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. We are, meant to be people of hope. But, you know, often our hope gets shattered.
Dr. Barrett:And, in those seasons we can feel moments of depression or anxiety, with no clarity, right? No vision. And so to this week, I wanna speak to restoring hope. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust him. If you're lacking joy, if you're lacking peace, the core issue is you may just be lacking hope.
Dr. Barrett:Hope for what? Hope for what's to come. Hope for, hey, you are you are a child of God. You can hope for so much because he's promised so much to his children. There are promises that are yes and amen.
Dr. Barrett:His truth is that his word does not return void. It accomplishes what it was purposed to do, but the reality is the timing may just not line up with yours and you may be losing hope in those seasons of waiting. So what really is hope? Hope is the bridge between where you are and where you're going. Hope is where you're at, where you're going, and that bridge is what we would call hope.
Dr. Barrett:It says, this season may be hard, but it's not permanent. That's what hope says. Hebrews 11, I was reading this week, says, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence the evidence of things not seen. That means, really, hope fuels your faith. Hope provides the fuel, the the logs and the fire of your faith.
Dr. Barrett:And it's the seed of belief that something better is ahead. Hope is that deep knowing that something better is coming. Even if you can't see it yet, you just know in your bones, the deepest part of your soul, that things are gonna be better, that something great is on the horizon. So maybe you've been waiting for healing in your body, or restoration of a relationship, or clarity, just a season of clarity asking for what's your next step. Hope says, hey, I'm not gonna give up, I'm gonna continue pressing in, God's not finished.
Dr. Barrett:The story isn't written fully. I'm gonna continue to hope and not not lose desire and ambition for the things that God's put on your heart. Why do we lose hope? How's hope lost? You know, we've all gone through the seasons of hard where it seems like we've lost hope.
Dr. Barrett:And I think it's when we focus more on the timing than the transformation. What do I mean by that? It's if you've prayed for something for a certain amount of times, sooner or you just kind of give up because it it didn't, you know, maybe come in according to your timeline. Maybe you've been wanting and desiring something, but it's not here yet. And so you're fixated on time where God is fixated on the transformation while you're waiting.
Dr. Barrett:In the waiting is when we're transformed. In the waiting is when we're pressed and molded into the image of Jesus. When we're fixated on time, we lose hope. When we're fixated on the transformation process of the journey, there's no hope to be lost because we can see the evidence of God's spirit operating in us every day and the fruit of that of that spirit. And that brings us hope.
Dr. Barrett:That brings us joy, and peace, and patience, and kindness, and goodness, and gentleness. So how do we build hope again? This week, as we think about this week, three things to build hope, restore hope this week. First, speak life. Start declaring what's coming, not what's missing.
Dr. Barrett:What's coming, not what's missing. Number two, stay grateful. Gratefulness reminds you that God is faithful, and he's good, and he's already blessed your life more than you can ever realize. Be grateful. Write in your journal three things that you're grateful for every day.
Dr. Barrett:And three, surround yourself with people that are hope filled, people that speak life, people that believe for the best. You don't wanna surround yourself with people that are pessimistic and negative. You wanna you wanna surround yourself with people that are breathing life into you in this season. So choose your friends and your people wisely. Be grateful every day, and speak life into your situation knowing that God is sovereign.
Dr. Barrett:He is in control, and he's got the best plans for you. So today, hold on to hope. Tomorrow, be hope filled this week.
